Featured Websites Information

The Featured Websites service is one of Forum Promotion's primary ad services. By posting a message on FP, in any section, at any time, you automatically earn a chance to have your website appear in this ad section. This topic provides information on this service, including how it works and how to get started.

Register Your Link

Before your website can appear in the featured website ads, you will need to register your link. To do so, go to the Edit Personal Details page, which you can find here. Enter the URL to your website under "Featured Site Ads: Website Link." If you haven't filled out this field, but have entered a link for "Home Page" on the same page, we'll use that.

Gaining Exposure

The more you post on FP, the more your link will appear in Featured Websites. Every time you post on FP, you earn one ticket. Each ticket lasts for twenty four hours. Each hour, on the hour, we draw four random tickets, and display their ads in the Featured Websites section. The more you post, the more tickets you will have, and the greater chance you'll have of your ad appearing.

There are a few special conditions that apply when selecting ads:
  • The leftmost ad will always go to the user who posted the most messages in the last 24 hours.
  • Ads are displayed in the order of how many posts the user made in the last 24 hours. If two users made the same number of posts in an hour, the user who has made the most posts on FP overall will have their ad shown first.
  • To users with smaller screens, such as iPads, only two or three ads may be visible at once, rather than the full four. The leftmost ads are shown in this case.
  • Features websites aren't visible to mobile users, to save on screen space

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What if I want to opt out of the ad service?

If you don't want your link displayed in the ad service, go to the Personal Details page and click the "Featured Website: Opt Out" checkbox. This will prevent your link from showing up, even if you only put in a URL for the Home Page field.

Q: What can I do if I see an offensive or spammy link?

A: To report a link, send a PM to any administrator, or use the Contact Us form. The same rules apply to the Featured Website service as links on the forum in the Promotion Directory. See the Acceptable Content Policy for more information.

If you have any questions, contact any administrator or community team member.
